The project objectives aim to shape the energy transition through the systematic development of specific renewable energy sources in the Mansfeld area, their storage, transfer and utilisation as well as the development of new sources of added value potential.
The core tasks of engineers and specialists in the fields of geosciences, energy and environmental sciences are to unfold, manage and coordinate the complex process of medium and long-term economic utilization of the geothermal potential of mine waters and mineral raw materials from the legacy of the former Mansfeld-Sangerhausen copper mines, mineral processing facilities and unrealised exploration targets.
By establishing, developing and utilising a network of competent partners from business, scientific institutions, politics, local authorities and associations, the aim is to actively shape this development and implement projects in a success-oriented manner.
The prerequisites for the projects and tasks worked on and planned by RBFK were provided by long-term collaboration with partners from politics and industry as well as cooperation and advice - to varying degrees - from numerous scientific institutions. Additionally, the expertise of former employees of Mansfeld companies has also been incorporated into these projects and represents animportant knowledge base:
