GEOTHERMY

Geothermal energy is one of the core technologies of structural change and the heat and energy transition.

The utilisation of geothermal energy is referred to as geothermics and includes both geoscientific investigations.

One of the formulated core tasks of our regional company is to develop new sources of heat supply by utilizing the previously untapped potential of old mining in the region in the form of geothermal resources. Water-bearing tunnels and former flooded areas of the Mansfeld copper mine can be considered as heat sources for local project solutions throughout the region.

The development and economic use of these energy sources is largely exemplary, whereby the available geothermal energy can be used for both heating and cooling.

The expansion and further development of long-standing interdisciplinary cooperation and collaboration with renowned partners from science, industry and politics should provide potential investors with an exemplary effect and planning security for further engineering geothermal projects in our mining region.

Geothermal energy can therefore make a considerable contribution to supplying the Mansfeld region with renewable energy.
