MINERAL RAW MATERIALS IN GENERAL

Mineral raw materials - metals, industrial minerals, stones and soils - form an essential basis for the existence and development of our economy.

As one of the leading industrialized nations, the German economy is one of the largest consumers of raw materials in the world and is therefore dependent on a continuous supply of raw materials in line with demand in order to safeguard its economic performance.

Increasing global demand for metals from industrialized nations, critical availability of raw materials and dwindling natural resources, particularly for various non-ferrous metals, mean that secondary sources must increasingly be tapped through recycling and the circular economy in addition to primary raw material sources.

The raw material potential in the unmined copper deposits in Mansfelder Land and the by-products of former mining and smelting in the region therefore represent a significant raw material potential, at least on a local and national scale, the economic use, utilization and extraction of which should be implemented in the medium term.

Through its own research work and scientific analyses of the various topics in this local raw materials and mining segment, the association can continue to make an important contribution to the regional development of Mansfelder Land in the future.
