Research cooperation
Start of a research cooperation between RBFK e.V. and the Technical University of Science and Technology Wroclaw
Four young researchers and young scientists for technology transfer from the Technical University of Science and Technology Wroclaw / Poland visited the Mansfeld region in January 2025 to gain an overview of local raw material resources in the region.
The focus of interest was on the anthropogenic copper slag heaps from the various smelting sites in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz, particularly in Lutherstadt Eisleben, Helbra and Vatterode.
The young scientists' research and academic work focuses on a range of energy-efficient and sustainable technology topics aimed at reducing the carbon footprint, e.g. in the production of concrete with substituted raw materials.
Other areas of scientific objectives include the development of production processes for the raw materials industry such as:
- Usability of rock minerals (including waste materials as resources) for the production of cement composites in the construction industry
- Methods for the chemical activation of a mixture of technical gases and waste in cement production
- Methods for processing rock dust to replace cement amorphous copper slag for use in cement composites
- Granite powder with carbon nanostructures as an additive to improve the electrical conductivity of the cement matrix in concrete
