Mining parade in Sangerhausen - May 2025

Glück Auf to the INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN PARADE 2025 in Sangerhausen from May 9 to 10, 2025

Cheers to all those who dig
for coal, salt and precious ore.
The miner's big, soft heart beats sublimely
in a rough shell!

The State Association of Miners', Metallurgical and Miners' Associations of Saxony-Anhalt and the mining and rose town of Sangerhausen cordially invite you to the International Mining Parade from May 9 to 10, 2025.

Numerous associations from the mining districts in Germany and abroad will enrich this highlight of the "825 years of copper slate mining in the Sangerhausen mining district and the Mansfeld Mulde" celebrations with their participation and contribute to making this industrial heritage visible and tangible for participants and visitors alike.

As the largest copper and silver producer in Germany and through the extraction of other important raw materials for non-ferrous metallurgy, such as zinc and lead, the Mansfeld mining industry contributed to the economic development of Germany and Europe for centuries.

Mining has shaped the landscape in the Harz foreland and its people and is still visible today. The spoil tips, which were created between the 1960s and 1990, can be seen from afar. Together with the headframes, they are industrial monuments and landmarks and a sign of the region's identity.

The Röhrigschacht Mining Experience Center in the Sangerhausen district of Wettelrode is the only publicly accessible mine in the local mining district and will be open to all visitors during the festive period. It houses information and various exhibits on copper slate mining in the above-ground area. Original machines and conveyor systems are on display in the outdoor area of the museum. Guided tours on the first underground level explain the industrial development of the mining of the copper slate seam and are very popular.

Pre-registration for the underground tours is required: Telephone: 03464 / 587 816 or by e-mail: info@roehrig-schacht.de
