The municipality of Mansfelder Grund-Helbra is continuing to plan its geothermal energy project: Following the example of the Röhrigschacht Mining Experience Center in Wettelrode, where the museum's heating system is mainly fed by the thermal energy present in the mine water, the municipality wants to use mine water from the gallery of the former Schmid shaft in Helbra as an environmentally friendly source of energy in future. The administration building of the municipality and the fire station in Helbra will one day be heated with the help of geothermal energy.
